Somatic Therapy
Somatic therapy recognises that mind and body are deeply connected. Including the body in therapy offers access to experiences and insights that often lie outside of everyday awareness, allowing the work to deepen in ways that talking alone often can’t.
What a session looks like
There's always conversation, alongside mindfulness-based exploration - noticing what's present in the moment, including sensations, emotions, impulses, memories or thoughts. Sessions are collaborative, and what we do depends on what feels right and useful for you.
This might involve gentle somatic explorations, working with different parts of yourself through Internal Family Systems, or exploring through imagination and memory. The focus is on allowing things to unfold naturally rather than digging or analyzing. We work at your pace, always respecting what feels safe.
Why somatic therapy
Somatic therapy focuses on transformation that happens not just in how you think, but in how you feel, move, and experience yourself. Drawing on mindfulness and neuroscience, somatic work integrates the whole person, honouring what the body holds. The aim is for change you can feel and live, not just understand.

A disclaimer
I am a graduate of Hakomi somatic psychotherapy and am in the early stages of my professional practice. This means I am still a student, actively building my experience while working under regular supervision. My work is also informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), and I hold a postgraduate diploma in psychotherapy, which supports my somatic, experiential approach.
